Fishing spots

Safe and accessible fishing spots

  • Port Coogee Accessible Fishing Jetty: Nestled at Chelydra Point, North Coogee, this spot is inclusive for anglers of all abilities.
  • Ammunition Jetty: Located on Nyyerbup Circle, Coogee, offering a unique fishing experience amidst stunning surroundings.

Exercise caution at these spots

The following locations offer great fishing opportunities but are known for potentially hazardous conditions. Fishers are advised to exercise extreme caution due to varying weather and sea conditions:

  • Catherine Point Groyne: A part of the scenic C Y O’Connor Beach, known for its unpredictable waves.
  • Port Coogee Marina External Breakwaters: Ideal for a serene fishing session but can be tricky due to its open water location (Note: Excludes the Coogee Maritime Trail).
  • Woodman Point: Includes the Breakwaters and Boat Ramp area, where conditions can quickly change.

Always priorise your safety and that of other beachgoers.

Prohibited fishing areas and activities

Fishing within the Port Coogee waterways, Coogee Maritime Trail, or Shark Barrier at Coogee Beach is strictly off-limits.

Spearfishing and shark fishing are also prohibited, with fines enforced for violations.

Cleaning up when fishing

Our pristine coastline is a treasure that needs to be protected. Dispose of your fishing waste correctly to prevent harm to local wildlife. Use bins provided or take your waste home.

Reel It In bins in Cockburn Sound offer a safe way to dispose of fishing line and tackle, reducing their impact on wildlife.
