A 2019 study revealed the marina's rich biodiversity, including 85 finfish species and vibrant communities of dolphins, sea stars, and corals, highlighting the vital role of cleanliness. Discover how you can contribute to preserving this ecosystem for future generations.

Reel It In bins

Reel It In Bins are conveniently located at key spots in Cockburn Sound, offering anglers a safe and straightforward method to dispose of fishing line and tackle. This initiative is part of the 'Reel It In' campaign, a joint effort by the Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions (DBCA), Recfishwest, Native Animal Rescue, Keep Australia Beautiful Clean Marine, and the Wildcare Helpline program. The campaign aims to mitigate the harm caused by discarded fishing gear on wildlife.

Discarded fishing line poses a severe risk to wildlife, as it does not decompose and can entangle animals, leading to injury or death. By responsibly disposing of your fishing line and tackle in 'Reel It In' bins, you're taking an essential step in protecting our natural environment and the creatures that inhabit it.

Take 3 for the Sea 

Take 3 for the Sea is a simple yet powerful initiative urging everyone to make a difference by taking three pieces of rubbish with them whenever they leave the beach, waterway, or any other place. This action, though small, has a profound impact on preserving our environment and protecting marine life from pollution.

Hazardous waste disposal

We encourage our community to responsibly dispose of hazardous household waste at the Henderson Waste Recovery Park, under the State Government's Household Hazardous Waste program. Free disposal is available for household hazardous waste, while other types of waste might incur a fee. Remember, responsible disposal of items like acids, coolants, fire extinguishers, flammables, and other household chemicals is key to preserving our marine environment.
