Background

At the August 2023 Ordinary Council Meeting, Council accepted a $6.88M tender from MG Group (Menchetti Consolidated Pty Ltd) to redevelop the facility.

Funding for the redevelopment includes $8M from the City of Cockburn, a $100,000 grant for floodlighting from the State Government, through the Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries (DLGSC) Community Sporting and Recreation Facilities Fund (CSRFF), and $20,000 from the Cockburn BMX Club.

The Malabar Park BMX Facility will also house Friends of the Community Inc, a local charity who sells food at events and reinvests all profits back into the local community.

The State Government, through the Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries, is a major supporter of community sport and recreation facilities in Western Australia. Sport and recreation builds stronger, healthier, happier and safer communities. When we play sport our whole community wins.
