City of Cockburn Major Road Projects

Major road projects that the City of Cockburn is or will be undertaking, some with state or federal government/ organisations include:

Jandakot Road, Jandakot

The City of Cockburn is committed to upgrading Jandakot Road to accommodate the growing number of vehicles using the road and to improve safety for road users and pedestrians. The project involves significant modifications to the vertical and horizontal alignments of Jandakot Road which will improve the level of service and site visibility. 

The duplication of Jandakot Road will take place in three stages, with stage one and two completed. Stage three is in the early planning process. Find out more about the Jandakot Road upgrade project.

Hammond Road, Success 

Hammond Road between Branch Circus and Bartram Road in Success is being upgraded. Stage 1 has been completed and included the relocation of underground services. Stage 2 commenced in November 2021 and involves upgrading Hammond Road to two lanes each way and installing new roundabouts at three key intersections. Rockingham Road (between Phoenix Road and Spearwood Avenue)

The upgrade of Rockingham Road between Phoenix Road and Spearwood Avenue is an important initiative for Spearwood. In response to longstanding community and business concerns regarding the safety and appearance of the road, the project will significantly improve the Phoenix town centre. The project will create a more people-friendly environment and will better balance the needs of businesses, residents and motorists. The p project will incorporate the following:
  • Improve the amenity of the area
  • Improve connectivity for various transport modes including pedestrians and cyclists
  • Enhance bus stop facilities
  • Promote mixed use development along the western side of Rockingham Road
  • Enhance the streetscape
  • Reduce the negative impact of excessive signage along Rockingham Road
  • Reduce the negative impact of excessive car parking and crossovers along Rockingham Road.

This project is currently in the design stage.

District Traffic Study 2018

The District Traffic Study 2018 provides the foundation for future road network planning of the City of Cockburn. It does this in terms of setting road network upgrade priorities and providing a framework for ongoing analysis of the road network.
